Who can see the content that I put on Shelf?
Shelf is a private knowledge network set up by each customer. When signing up for Shelf each new customer chooses a specific URL and will be given their own unique sign in page. All content added to their Shelf is viewable only by users the account holder has invited into their group. Think of Shelf like a plug & play portal, where you are the gatekeeper who decides who has access to your content and who doesn’t.
How secure is my content on Shelf?
Shelf is hosted on Amazon Web Service (AWS) and has the same security standards as popular SaaS platforms such as Dropbox, Adobe Systems, and Hootsuite. AWS security standards include: protection against packet sniffing by other tenants, Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, Man In the Middle (MITM) attacks, etc. Shelf also comes with a standard 128-bit SSL encryption (the standard used by most international banks) and conducts nightly data backups. Virtually all settings of Shelf are also configurable by each customer’s Admin.
Can we host Shelf on our Servers?
Although Shelf is on AWS, if you are interested in getting a private version of Shelf and managing it on your own infrastructure, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I get my content onto Shelf?
Shelf has a bulk upload feature so you can add hundreds of files at a time. We are also working on integrations with Dropbox and Google Drive so that your content is automatically indexed and viewable on Shelf. We will be integrating with numerous technologies in the coming months - sign up for our newsletter so you can be notified when new integrations become available..
And one of the best parts of Shelf is the browser plugin, which enables users to grab content while they’re surfing the web, without having to copy and paste links into Word docs or emails. The Shelf plugin also enables users to other types of content on the go such as: videos, images, articles, people profiles, documents, and more.
How do I get our content off of Shelf?
You can export your documents onto your desktop. Web links and profiles are exported into an Excel file.
How much does Shelf cost?
Shelf has a tiered pricing structure where Admins and Users costs $10/month and Members only cost $0.50/month. This flexible pricing approach means that Shelf won’t cost you and arm and a leg. For more details about our pricing and the user types, please refer to our pricing page.

What platforms do you integrate with?
At the moment we have a plugin for Chrome, Firefox and Safari in the coming months we will be integrating with Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and WordPress.
How do I access Shelf from my mobile device?
We do not have apps available for iPad, iPhone, or Android at this time…but we will soon! Join our newsletter list to be notified when they become available.
But the good news is that you don’t need an app to access your Shelf on a mobile device! Just sign in to Shelf from your tablet or phone browser and access all of your Shelf content.
Is my content searchable by Google?
Not by default. Shelf is a private knowledge management platform, so Google will not be able to index and make your content searchable. If you want to make your Shelf content searchable you’ll need to publish your content in a public forum.
Can I add a logo or customize Shelf?
You are able to choose a custom Shelf URL when you create an account.
At the moment it isn't possible to customize your account or projects with colors or a company logo.
How can I replace an old version of a file with a current one?
It is easy to update a Gem with a newer file version. Once you are on the appropriate Gem page, simply Click the “Edit Gem” button, then click the “Change attachment” button.
What kinds of payment options does Shelf accept?
Shelf accepts all major US credit cards, including: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and many more. While we're unable to accept other forms of payment at this time, we are committed to servicing our customers to the best of our ability. Is Shelf available in languages other than English?
Shelf is only available in English at the moment, but the good news is that all of the areas where you can add text can accommodate pretty much any language, including search will return results.

How can I reset my password, or help someone else reset theirs?
You can send yourself or someone else a password reset from the login page. Click on the "I forgot my password" under the login field. Enter the email address to send a password reset email.
What happens when my Free Trial ends?
If your Free Trial expires before you provide your credit card information, your account will be frozen. Your data will remain intact, though inaccessible, until you login to your account and provide this information.
